“Net Work/Capture shows a black imprint of netting on a white background, and some lively blue shapes and splashes. Ever since I picked up a torn fishing net at a beach in Cape Cod, I have been drawn to nets, both as tools and as subjects. Initially, it was about a simple dichotomy: To capture—or to be caught? As I continued working with nets and explored different techniques, Art began to inform Life. Each process led to a different result, giving new meaning to the net.”
Meet the Artist
Barbara Eskin was born in Germany and lives and works in the USA and in France. Studies at the University of Mainz, (Germany), Middlebury College, (USA), Woodstock School of Arts (NY, USA), Ecole d'Art et de Dessin de Fontainebleau (France), Kunsthochschule Bremen (Germany), and with internationally acclaimed painter Frans Schuursma (Paris, France).
